MASTAA extends its deepest condolences on the passing of Dr Oh Myint, Honorary Advisor of MASTAA, who passed away on January 19, 2026.
<\/span><\/p>

MASTAA is deeply saddened by this loss. Dr Ohn Myint lived a life devoted to service, learning, and professional excellence. Over his 85 years, he made significant contributions to the field of hydraulic and water resources engineering and influenced colleagues, students, and professionals across many parts of the world.<\/span><\/p>

As Honorary Advisor of MASTAA, Dr Ohn Myint shared his experience and guidance generously. His commitment and support meant a great deal to the organization, and his contributions will be remembered with respect and gratitude.<\/span><\/p>

During this time of loss, MASTAA\u2019s thoughts are with Dr Ohn Myint\u2019s family and all those who mourn him. We hope that the memories of his life and the many people he touched will bring comfort. Born in September 1941 in Tawa Village near Bago to U Ba Hla and Daw Aye, he received his early education in Bago and Yangon. He graduated with a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Rangoon Institute of Technology (RIT) in 1964 and later earned his Ph.D. in Hydraulics from Friendship University, Moscow, as a State Scholar.<\/span><\/p>\n

He served as an academic at Rangoon Institute of Technology and later dedicated over two decades to the Irrigation Department, rising to the position of Deputy Director (Design). From 1992 to 2003, he worked at the World Bank as a Senior Irrigation and Water Resources Engineer. Following his retirement, he continued to serve as a Senior Water Engineering Consultant on international development projects.<\/span><\/p>\n
