Born in Taunggyi, Southern Shan State, in August 1946, to Rev John Thetgyi and Daw Klusu. Father is Burmese and mother is Karen, grew up among a very progressive nationalities of the Union of Myanmar. Studied in National Christion Schools and Kanbawza College. Number five among seven siblings.

Moved to Rangoon in 1959 after seventh standard and studied at Unique Karen High School in Lower Kyimyindine and Matriculate in 1963. Studied first year at Rangoon Arts and Science University at Lake Kone. Continue studied at RIT under the new system of education starting in the second year in 1964 and graduated from RIT with Mechanical Engineering major in 1969.

Start working in 1969 at PETROCHEMICAL INDUSTRIES CORP.Sale Fertilizer Factory near Chauk until 1975 and plan to migrate to United States. Migrated to US in 1977 October and become a US citizen in 1983.

Due to a great help and introduction from Dr Chaula Barawaja and his friends and friends, got the first job in US in Stone and Webster Engineering Company, in Cherry Hill NJ, in 1978 February. Worked there for 12 years and after that, with the changes in the engineering industry, have the opportunity to work in different companies and see a bit of America where the jobs are located.

My line of work is in engineering, design and analysis of equipment, piping and supports in electric power generation and petrochemical plants.

Retired in 2015 January from URS as the company is in transition to AECOM.
